Working Together to Strengthen the Handmade Sector

The handmade sector in India supports millions of livelihoods and carries deep cultural knowledge. Strengthening it requires collaboration. HFH works with organisations, institutions and individuals who share an interest in supporting artisan livelihoods.

Why Partner With HFH

An integrated approach: learning, field engagement, ecosystem collaboration

HFH brings together learning, field engagement and ecosystem collaboration within the handmade sector. By working across these areas, the foundation connects artisans with designers, institutions and markets that can strengthen their enterprises. Partnerships with HFH allow organisations to contribute meaningfully to the sustainability of craft livelihoods while supporting cultural traditions central to India's identity.

Ways to Partner

Four meaningful paths to collaboration

01

Partnering with Handmade Academy

Deploy the academy's training programs for your artisan groups. Courses cover marketing, product presentation, photography and digital communication — delivered through a digital platform that allows participants to learn at their own pace. CSR initiatives, NGOs, development organisations and craft institutions can work with HFH to introduce these programs within their networks.

02

Supporting Cluster Development

Help artisans strengthen their enterprises through training, design exploration and market understanding. Partners can support cluster initiatives in specific craft communities through financial support, technical collaboration or joint program development.

03

Collaborative Programs

Co-develop exhibitions, workshops, discussions and collaborative projects that bring together artisans, designers, educators and researchers. These initiatives contribute to a broader understanding of the handmade sector and help build stronger ecosystem connections.

04

Research & Knowledge Partnerships

For research institutions, design schools and cultural organisations: collaborate with HFH to study craft practices, document artisan knowledge and explore new directions for the handmade sector. Research partnerships help generate insights that inform future training programs and cluster initiatives.
